The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter by Shandong Zhongziyi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. can vary according to site pipeline conditions. For flowmeters without a ball valve, installation should be on a non-pressurized pipeline-this non-pressurized setup permits the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve.
Make a hole with a diameter of 50 mm in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.
For scenarios where continuous flow is required during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve is essential. In such cases, select an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter equipped with a ball valve structure.
Again, make a hole with a diameter of 50 mm in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

Ensure there are straight pipe sections of 5D upstream and 3D downstream to guarantee the proper use of the electromagnetic flowmeter and to meet accuracy standards.

The principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter's measurement is independent of the flow characteristics.
Even if turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), they will not affect the measurement.

However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area will impact both stability and accuracy.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the external environment
    1. The flowmeter should avoid areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation from equipment. If installation in such areas is necessary, insulation and ventilation measures must be taken.
    2. Optimal installation is indoors. If outdoor installation is unavoidable, protect the flowmeter from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight with appropriate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments with corrosive gases. If it must be installed in such conditions, ensure proper ventilation measures are implemented.
    4. To facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep, ensure ample space around the flowmeter.
    5. The installation site should be free from magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If the pipeline vibrates significantly, provide supports on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize it.

1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths of straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are required to maintain measurement accuracy. Alternatively, a straightener can be installed. Avoid installation near control valves and partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's inner diameter and must meet the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. Ensure the process pipe and sensor are concentric, maintaining an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it's highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is particularly crucial for systems handling heavily contaminated fluids and those needing uninterrupted fluid flow during maintenance. a. Simplify flowmeter maintenance. b. Mandatory for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Essential for continuous fluid flow during cleaning.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: The inlet section should be no less than 10×DN, and the outlet section should be no less than 5×DN. This ensures optimal flowmeter performance.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee reliable instrument operation and enhance measurement accuracy, the sensor must be shielded from external parasitic potentials. Ensure the sensor is well-grounded with a resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline has proper grounding, a dedicated grounding device isn't necessary.)
