Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter is tailored to match the specific site pipeline conditions. For pipelines without pressure, flowmeters that do not incorporate a ball valve are suitable. This selection is ideal for non-pressurized installations, offering simplicity and efficacy.
A precise 50mm diameter hole must be created in the pipeline, followed by welding a connecting pipe to the newly established opening. This ensures a seamless integration of the flowmeter.
In scenarios demanding uninterrupted flow during loading and unloading or where media spillage is unacceptable, incorporating a ball valve is essential. Opt for an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure to meet these needs efficiently.
Again, a 50mm diameter hole is necessary in the pipeline. Prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening, ensuring a robust and secure installation.

To achieve optimal performance, the piping must have straight sections of 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This configuration ensures the electromagnetic flowmeter operates correctly and meets stringent accuracy standards.

The electromagnetic flowmeter's measurement principle is independent of the flow characteristics, ensuring consistent and reliable performance.
Even if turbulence and vortices are present in the non-measurement area (caused by elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), they do not impact measurement accuracy.

Conversely, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can compromise both stability and accuracy. It is crucial to address this to maintain the integrity of measurements.
When encountering such issues, consider implementing the following measures to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Extend the length of the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections.
  2. Introduce a flow stabilizer.
  3. Minimize the cross-sectional area at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. The flowmeter should not be installed in areas with major temperature variations or high-temperature radiation from equipment. If unavoidable, ensure insulation and ventilation are in place to protect the flowmeter.
    2. For optimal performance, install the flowmeter indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight with appropriate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid installations in environments with corrosive gases. If installation in such areas is essential, ensure proper ventilation measures are implemented.
    4. To simplify installation, maintenance, and upkeep, ample installation space around the flowmeter is required, ensuring convenient access and operation.
    5. Select an installation site for the flowmeter that is free from magnetic fields and strong vibrations. If significant pipeline vibration exists, stabilize the pipeline by providing supports on both sides of the flowmeter.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To counteract the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, it's crucial to adhere to specific lengths for the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections. This practice ensures precise measurement accuracy (a straightener can also be used, and avoid placing the flowmeter near control valves and partially open valves).

2.2. Requirements for the Process Pipes The upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point must meet specific criteria to maintain measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of these pipes should match the sensor's inner diameter, adhering to the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (DN represents the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the inner diameter of the process pipe). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, incorporating a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This becomes essential for heavily contaminated fluids or scenarios where you need to clean the flowmeter without interrupting the fluid flow. a. Facilitates convenient maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning without halting the fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: The inlet should be at least 10 times the diameter (≥ 10×DN) and the outlet should be at least 5 times the diameter (≥ 5×DN).

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee consistent and accurate measurement, the instrument must be shielded from external parasitic potentials. Ensure the sensor is properly grounded, with a grounding resistance less than 10 ohms. (A dedicated grounding device is unnecessary if the metal pipeline is well-grounded.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Refer to the provided diagram for detailed installation positioning.
