For non-pressurized pipelines, flowmeters without a ball valve can be selected and installed.
Make a hole with a diameter of 50 in the pipeline, and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the newly created opening.
For scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is not permissible, a ball valve must be incorporated. Select an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure for these conditions.
Similar to non-pressurized installations, make a hole with a diameter of 50 in the pipeline and get ready to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

Ensure the pipeline has straight pipe sections of 5D upstream and 3D downstream from the flowmeter. This arrangement guarantees the proper function of the electromagnetic flowmeter and meets accuracy standards.
The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
Even if turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as elbows, throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), these will not affect the measurement.
However, if steady-state vortices are present in the measurement area, they can compromise the stability and accuracy of the measurements.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:
1.2. Pipeline-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate vortices and flow field distortions, specific lengths for straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are required to avoid measurement accuracy issues. Installing a straightener is advisable, and avoid placing the flowmeter close to control and partially open valves.
2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has precise requirements for upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's inner diameter and adhere to: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.
2.3. Requirements for bypass pipes To ensure seamless maintenance and optimal performance of the flowmeter, the installation of a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This is particularly crucial for scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids or when the flowmeter must be cleaned without interrupting the fluid flow. a. To facilitate the smooth maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Ensures continuous operation of fluid flow during flowmeter cleaning.
3. Installation requirements for insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeters To guarantee precision and reliability, the installation of insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeters must adhere to specific requirements.
3.1. Requirements for straight pipe sections Inlet/outlet straight pipe sections: To ensure accurate measurements, the inlet pipe should be at least 10×DN in length, and the outlet pipe should be at least 5×DN in length.
3.2. Requirements for grounding points For reliable instrument operation and enhanced measurement accuracy, grounding is paramount. The sensor must be well-grounded to minimize the influence of external parasitic potentials, with grounding resistance kept below 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline already has good grounding, a dedicated grounding device is not necessary.)
3.3. Requirements for installation position The optimal installation positions should be followed as indicated in the accompanying diagram to ensure the best performance.
