Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter depends on the specific site pipeline conditions. If the flowmeter does not feature a ball valve, it should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. Choosing a flowmeter without a ball valve is suitable for such conditions.
A 50mm diameter hole should be created in the pipeline, and preparations made to weld a connecting pipe to this opening.
For conditions that require continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is unacceptable, an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure is essential. This selection ensures the prevention of overflow and maintains a steady flow.
A 50mm diameter hole should be created in the pipeline, and preparations made to weld a connecting pipe to this opening.

The straight pipe sections must adhere to 5D upstream and 3D downstream requirements. This alignment ensures the appropriate use and accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter.

The principle of measurement for the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
If turbulence and vortices occur in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as near elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), it will not affect the measurement.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area will impact the stability and accuracy of the readings.
To stabilize the flow distribution in such cases, consider the following measures:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream.
  2. Utilize a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section of the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. The flowmeter should not be installed in areas prone to significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation from equipment. If such installation is unavoidable, ensure proper insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. Ideally, the flowmeter should be installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, take steps to protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, along with implementing moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments containing corrosive gases. If installation in such areas is necessary, ensure adequate ventilation measures are in place.
    4. Ensure there is ample space around the flowmeter to facilitate easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. The installation site should be free from magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If significant pipeline vibration is present, support the pipeline on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize it.

1.2. Pipeline-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate vortices and flow field distortion effects, specific requirements for upstream and downstream straight pipe lengths must be met. Otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Installing a straightener is also advisable, and avoid setup close to control or partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific upstream and downstream process pipe requirements at the installation point. Failure to meet these requirements can affect measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream pipes should match the sensor's inner diameter, adhering to the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This becomes essential when dealing with heavily contaminated fluids or when the flowmeter needs cleaning without interrupting the fluid flow. a. Facilitates the maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows cleaning of the flowmeter without stopping the fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: The inlet should have a straight pipe length of at least 10 times the diameter (10×DN); the outlet should have a minimum length of 5 times the diameter (5×DN).

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation and high measurement accuracy of the instrument, it must be insulated from external parasitic potentials. The sensor requires excellent grounding, with grounding resistance below 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is unnecessary.)
