Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the High Reliability Electromagnetic Flowmeter varies depending on the site pipeline conditions. Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. This non-pressurized installation allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve.
A hole with a diameter of 50 should be made in the pipeline. Preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.
For applications requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve must be added. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.
A hole with a diameter of 50 should be made in the pipeline. Prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.

The requirements for straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream to ensure the proper operation of the electromagnetic flowmeter and meet accuracy standards.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
If turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), it will not affect the measurement accuracy.

However, if there are steady-state vortices in the measurement area, it will affect the stability and accuracy of the readings.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or exposure to high-temperature radiation from equipment. If installation in such areas is unavoidable, insulation and ventilation measures must be implemented.
    2. The flowmeter is best installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, it should be protected from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, with appropriate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. The flowmeter should not be installed in environments containing corrosive gases. If installation in such environments is unavoidable, adequate ventilation measures must be implemented.
    4. To facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep, ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter.
    5. The installation site should avoid magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If the pipeline experiences significant vibration, supports should be provided on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific requirements for the lengths of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter must be met. Otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Installing a straightener is advisable, and it is best to avoid installing near control valves and partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match that of the sensor and meet the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (DN is the inner diameter of the sensor, and D is the inner diameter of the process pipe). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is especially critical for situations involving heavily contaminated fluids or scenarios where the flowmeter needs to be cleaned without interrupting the fluid flow. Key points include: a. Facilitating flowmeter maintenance. b. Mandatory installation for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allowing the flowmeter to be cleaned without stopping the fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections For optimal performance, the installation should adhere to the following straight pipe section requirements: Inlet should be ≥ 10×DN and Outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To ensure the reliable operation of the instrument and enhance measurement accuracy, it is crucial that the sensor is well-grounded with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. This minimizes the impact of external parasitic potentials. (Note: If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is not necessary.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Please refer to the accompanying diagram for detailed installation position requirements.
