Optimal Piping Conditions
For optimal performance, the installation of the vortex flowmeter requires specific straight pipe sections before and after the device, defined as follows (D represents the pipe diameter):
1.
Install the sensor on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with upward liquid flow) matching the sensor's diameter. Ensure a straight pipe length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream.
2.
Ensure the pipe near the liquid sensor is filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes subjected to strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The internal diameter of the straight pipe should closely match the sensor diameter. If not, use a slightly larger diameter with an error of ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Avoid installation in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or where maintenance is inconvenient..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is common for flow sensors. For gas flow containing some liquid, install the sensor at a higher pipeline point. For liquid flow containing gas, install the sensor at a lower pipeline point.
6.
Vertical pipeline installation. For gas flow, install the sensor on a vertical pipeline without flow direction restriction. If the gas contains liquid, flow should be from bottom to top. For liquid flow, ensure flow is from bottom to top to reduce probe weight.
7.
Side-mounted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines. Suitable for all fluids, particularly superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting minimizes temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids or frequently cleaned pipelines.
9.
Sensor installation on insulated pipelines. When measuring high-temperature steam, ensure the insulation layer does not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Pressure and temperature measurement points selection. For accurate measurements, position the pressure measurement point 3-5D downstream and the temperature measurement point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
