Flowmeters without a ball valve are suitable for non-pressurized pipelines, allowing for easier selection and installation.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline for secure installation.
For scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is not permitted, an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure should be selected. This ensures uninterrupted operation and safety.

Even if turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (e.g., elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), it will not impact the measurement accuracy.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can affect both stability and accuracy, necessitating corrective measures.
In such cases, consider the following measures to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer to maintain consistent flow.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point to minimize turbulence.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation. If unavoidable, use insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. Preferably, install the flowmeter indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight using moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid environments with corrosive gases for installation. If installation in such environments is necessary, ensure proper ventilation.
    4. Ensure ample space around the flowmeter for easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter near magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If the pipeline vibrates significantly, provide supports on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize it.

1.2. Pipeline-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are required. A flow straightener can also be installed, and it is advisable to avoid installation close to control valves and partially open valves to ensure measurement accuracy.

2.2. Requirements for the Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to maintain measurement accuracy: a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's inner diameter, within the range of 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes: To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to integrate a bypass pipe. For environments dealing with heavily contaminated fluids or where uninterrupted cleaning of the flowmeter is necessary, a bypass pipe installation is imperative. a. Facilitates seamless maintenance. b. Essential for managing heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows cleaning of the flowmeter without halting fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters: Precise guidelines for setting up insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeters to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections: Ensure optimal operation by maintaining adequate straight pipe sections. Inlet straight pipe sections should be ≥ 10×DN, while outlet straight pipe sections should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points: To guarantee reliable performance and enhanced measurement accuracy, the sensor must be well-grounded with a grounding resistance of less than 10. Avoid interference from external parasitic potentials. (Note: If the metal pipeline is properly grounded, additional grounding devices are not necessary.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position: Refer to the accompanying diagram for precise installation positioning to ensure optimal performance.
