Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter depends on the site pipeline conditions. For flowmeters without a ball valve, they should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline, offering an easy selection process.
Create a hole with a diameter of 50 in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.
For scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is unacceptable, it's essential to add a ball valve. This necessitates choosing an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter featuring a ball valve structure.
Create a hole with a diameter of 50 in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

The required straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream, ensuring optimal use of the electromagnetic flowmeter for precise measurements.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
Even if turbulence and vortices occur in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (like elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open upstream valves), they won't affect the measurement.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can impact stability and accuracy.
In such cases, consider the following measures to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Extend the length of the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections.
  2. Utilize a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with drastic temperature changes or high-temperature radiation from equipment. If necessary, ensure proper insulation and ventilation.
    2. Preferably, install the flowmeter indoors. If outdoor installation is unavoidable, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight with moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. The flowmeter should not be installed in environments containing corrosive gases. If unavoidable, implement adequate ventilation measures.
    4. To facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep, ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter near magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. For pipelines experiencing significant vibration, stabilize both sides of the flowmeter with supports.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To reduce the impact of vortices and flow field distortion, adhere to specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. Otherwise, measurement accuracy can be compromised (a straightener can also be installed and avoid installation close to control valves and partially open valves).

2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has precise requirements for upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to maintain measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's and must meet: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of your flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. For fluids that are heavily contaminated or when it's essential to clean the flowmeter without halting fluid flow, a bypass pipe becomes indispensable. a. Facilitates effortless maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for managing heavily contaminated fluids. c. Essential for cleaning the flowmeter without interrupting the fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: To guarantee optimal performance, ensure the inlet pipe section is at least 10 times the diameter (≥ 10×DN) and the outlet pipe section is at least 5 times the diameter (≥ 5×DN).

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points For reliable instrument operation and enhanced measurement precision, it is imperative that the system is protected from external parasitic potentials. Adequate grounding of the sensor is crucial, with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a separate grounding device is not necessary.)
