Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter is tailored to accommodate the site-specific pipeline conditions. For flowmeters that do not incorporate a ball valve, they should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. This non-pressurized installation allows for the selection of flowmeters without the necessity of a ball valve.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm must be created in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.
In scenarios requiring continuous fluid flow during loading and unloading, or where preventing media overflow is crucial, a ball valve must be incorporated. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter equipped with a ball valve structure.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm must be created in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.

To ensure optimal performance and accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter, the straight pipe sections should adhere to a length of 5D upstream and 3D downstream.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow's characteristics, ensuring reliable operation under varied conditions.
Even if turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as due to elbows, tangential throttles, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), they will not impact the measurement.

However, if steady-state vortices form within the measurement area, it will compromise the stability and accuracy of the readings.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. 1. Increase the length of the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections.
  2. 2. Utilize a flow stabilizer.
  3. 3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or exposure to high-temperature radiation from equipment. If installation in such areas is necessary, ensure adequate insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. The flowmeter is ideally installed indoors. If outdoor installation is unavoidable, it should be protected from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, with appropriate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures in place.
    3. The flowmeter should not be installed in environments containing corrosive gases. When such installation is necessary, proper ventilation measures must be implemented.
    4. To facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep, ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas prone to magnetic fields and strong vibrations. If pipeline vibrations are significant, provide supports on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortions, specific lengths for the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections of the flowmeter are required. Failure to meet these requirements can affect measurement accuracy (a straightener can be installed, and it is advisable to avoid installation near control valves and partially open valves).

2.2. Requirements for the Process Pipes The upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point must meet specific criteria to ensure accurate measurements: a. The inner diameters of the upstream and downstream process pipes must match that of the sensor and comply with the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the inner diameter of the sensor, and D is the inner diameter of the process pipe). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes: To ensure the seamless maintenance and optimal performance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is particularly essential for scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids or when it's necessary to clean the flowmeter without halting fluid flow. a. Facilitates efficient maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Crucial for managing heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters: Comprehensive guidelines ensure the optimal functioning and performance of insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeters.

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections: To maintain precise readings and performance, the following inlet/outlet straight pipe sections are essential: Inlet should be ≥ 10×DN; Outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points: To guarantee reliable operation and enhanced measurement accuracy, the sensor must be well-grounded to avoid external parasitic potentials. The grounding resistance should be less than 10. (A dedicated grounding device is unnecessary if the metal pipeline is adequately grounded.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position: For optimal results, please refer to the installation position as depicted in the accompanying diagram.
