Installation Requirements

Piping Condition
The installation of a vortex flowmeter requires specific straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream. The common configurations are as follows (D represents the diameter of the pipe):

1.
Install the sensor on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing from bottom to top) that matches the sensor's diameter. Ensure adequate straight pipe lengths: 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream.
2.
Ensure the pipe near the liquid sensor is fully filled with the liquid to be measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes subject to strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe should closely match the sensor diameter. If not, use a slightly larger pipe, ensuring an error of ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Do not install the sensor in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, restricted space, or where maintenance is difficult. Installation requirements.
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is most common. For gas flow with small liquid content, install the sensor at a higher pipeline point. For liquid flow with small gas content, install at a lower point.
6.
Vertical pipeline installation involves no flow direction restriction for gas flow. For gas with small liquid content, ensure flow direction is from bottom to top. For liquid flow, flow should be from bottom to top to prevent additional weight on the probe.
7.
Side installation on horizontal pipelines is possible for any fluid, especially superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting minimizes temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally not recommended. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids, or where frequent pipeline cleaning is required.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers measuring high-temperature steam, the insulation should not exceed one-third the height of the bracket.
10.
When measuring pressure and temperature near the sensor, place pressure measurement points 3-5D downstream and temperature measurement points 6-8D downstream.
