Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the high reliability electromagnetic flowmeter varies depending on the site pipeline conditions. Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline (i.e., non-pressurized installation allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve).
A precise hole with a 50mm diameter should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to securely weld a connecting pipe to the opening.
For scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is impermissible, a ball valve is essential. This entails selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with an integrated ball valve structure.
A precise hole with a 50mm diameter should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to securely weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

The requirements for the straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream, which ensures the optimal use of the electromagnetic flowmeter and meets stringent accuracy standards.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
If there is a certain amount of turbulence and vortices generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), it will not affect the measurement.

However, if steady-state vortices are present in the measurement area, it will compromise the stability and accuracy of the measurements.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. The flowmeter should avoid installation in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or near high-temperature radiating equipment. If installation is necessary, robust insulation and ventilation measures must be implemented.
    2. The flowmeter is best installed indoors. If outdoor installation is unavoidable, it should be safeguarded from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, with comprehensive moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. The flowmeter should avoid environments containing corrosive gases. If installation is required, proper ventilation measures should be taken.
    4. To facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep, there must be ample installation space surrounding the flowmeter.
    5. The installation site of the flowmeter should avoid magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If the pipeline experiences significant vibration, supports should be installed on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, there are specific requirements for the lengths of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter; otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised (a straightener can also be installed, and it is advisable to avoid installation close to control valves and partially open valves).

2.2. Requirements for the Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point; otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should be identical to that of the sensor and must meet the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the inner diameter of the sensor, and D is the inner diameter of the process pipe). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of your flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. In scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids, or situations where the flowmeter needs cleaning without interrupting the fluid flow, a bypass pipe is essential. a. Facilitates easy maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows for cleaning of the flowmeter without halting the fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet and outlet straight pipe sections are crucial: The inlet should be at least 10×DN to ensure accurate measurements and optimal performance; the outlet should be at least 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee reliable operation and enhance measurement accuracy, the instrument must not be influenced by external parasitic potentials. Ensure the sensor has superior grounding, with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is not necessary.)
