Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the Anti-Vibration Electromagnetic Flowmeter varies depending on the specific site pipeline conditions. If flowmeters without a ball valve are to be used, they should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline, allowing for a non-pressurized installation that excludes the necessity for a ball valve.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm should be made in the pipeline to prepare for welding a connecting pipe to the opening.
For situations requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is not permissible, a ball valve must be included. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.

The requirements for straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This configuration ensures the optimal functioning of the electromagnetic flowmeter and meets stringent accuracy requirements.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
If turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement areas of the pipeline-such as at elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream-they will not impact the measurement.

However, if steady-state vortices occur in the measurement area, this will affect both the stability and accuracy of the measurements.
To stabilize the flow distribution in such cases, the following measures should be taken:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. The flowmeter should be installed away from areas with significant temperature fluctuations or where high-temperature radiation from equipment is present. If such installation is unavoidable, appropriate insulation and ventilation measures must be implemented.
    2. The flowmeter is best installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, it should be shielded from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, with adequate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures in place.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments containing corrosive gases. If unavoidable, ensure that proper ventilation measures are in place.
    4. Ample space around the flowmeter is essential to facilitate easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. The flowmeter installation site should avoid magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If significant pipeline vibration exists, support structures should be added on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, follow specific length requirements for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. Otherwise, measurement accuracy will suffer. Installing a straightener can also help, and it's recommended to avoid placing the flowmeter close to control valves and partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for the Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. The inner diameter of these pipes should match the sensor's, meeting the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). Moreover, the process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance and optimal performance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This becomes essential for systems dealing with heavily contaminated fluids or in scenarios where the flowmeter requires cleaning without halting the fluid flow. a. Ensures easy and convenient maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory installation for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections For superior performance, the straight pipe sections must adhere to the following specifications: Inlet should be ≥ 10×DN; Outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the instrument's reliable operation and enhance measurement accuracy, it is crucial to avoid interference from external parasitic potentials. The sensor must be properly grounded with a grounding resistance of less than 10. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, additional grounding devices are unnecessary.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position The optimal installation position is depicted in the accompanying diagram.
