Installation Requirements

Piping Condition
For optimal performance, installing the vortex flowmeter requires specific straight pipe sections before and after the device. The common configurations are outlined below (D represents the diameter of the pipe):

The sensor should be mounted on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipeline (liquid should flow from bottom to top). The pipe diameter should match the sensor's diameter exactly. Ensure a front straight pipe section of 15-20D and a rear straight pipe section of 5-10D to achieve accurate readings.
2.
Ensure the pipe near the liquid sensor is completely filled with the liquid to be measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes that experience strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe should closely match the sensor's diameter. If matching is impossible, use a pipe with a slightly larger diameter, keeping the error within ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Do not install the sensor in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or inconvenient maintenance access..

Horizontal pipeline installation is most common for flow sensors. For gas flow measurements with minor liquid content, install the sensor at a higher point. For liquid flow with minor gas content, place the sensor at a lower point.
6.
Vertical pipeline installation is also viable. For gas flow, the sensor can be placed on a vertical pipeline without concern for flow direction. If the gas contains some liquid, flow should go from bottom to top. For liquid flow, ensure the flow is from bottom to top to prevent probe overload.
7.
Side installation on horizontal pipelines is suitable for superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. This method minimizes the temperature impact on the amplifier and is generally preferred if conditions allow.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally not recommended. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids. It is also useful where pipelines require frequent cleaning.
9.
When installing sensors on pipelines with insulation layers for high-temperature steam, ensure that the insulation does not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Selecting the right pressure and temperature measurement points is critical. Place the pressure measurement point 3-5D downstream of the sensor and the temperature measurement point 6-8D downstream to ensure accurate readings.
