Piping Condition
The installation of a vortex flowmeter necessitates a specific straight pipe section both upstream and downstream, with the following common configurations (D represents the diameter of the pipe):
1.
The sensor should be mounted on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with the liquid flowing upwards) that matches the sensor's diameter. A straight pipe length of 15-20D is required upstream, and 5-10D downstream.
2.
The pipe proximal to the sensor must be filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes that experience strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
Ensure the inner diameter of the straight pipe matches the sensor diameter. If not possible, use a slightly larger diameter with an error of ≤3% and a maximum of 5mm. Avoid installing the sensor in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, constrained space, or where maintenance would be challenging..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is the most prevalent. For gas flow containing minor liquid amounts, position the sensor at a higher pipeline point. For liquid flow with minor gas content, position the sensor at a lower pipeline point.
6.
Vertical pipeline installation for gas flow permits the sensor to be mounted without flow direction constraints. If gas contains minor liquid, flow should ascend. For liquid flow, ensure flow ascends to prevent additional weight on the probe.
7.
Side-mounting sensors on horizontal pipelines is suitable for fluids, especially in measuring superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting reduces temperature impacts on the amplifier and is preferred if feasible.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. It's unsuitable for general gases and superheated steam but can measure saturated steam and high-temperature liquids or for pipelines needing frequent cleaning.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers, ensure the insulation does not exceed one-third of the bracket height when measuring high-temperature steam.
10.
Pressure and temperature measurement point selection depends on requirements: the pressure point should be 3-5D downstream, and the temperature point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
