Installation Requirements

Piping Condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter necessitates a specific straight pipe section both before and after the device. The typical requirements are as follows (D represents the diameter of the pipe):

The sensor should be installed on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing from bottom to top) that matches the sensor's diameter. Ensure a straight pipe section of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream of the sensor.
2.
The liquid sensor must be installed in a pipe completely filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
The sensor should not be placed on pipes experiencing strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe section should be as close as possible to that of the sensor. If an exact match is not feasible, a slightly larger diameter is acceptable within an error margin of ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Do not install the sensor in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or where maintenance is challenging..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is most common for flow sensors. When measuring gas flow containing some liquid, position the sensor at a higher pipeline point. Conversely, when measuring liquid flow with some gas, place the sensor at a lower pipeline point.
6.
Vertical pipeline installation for sensors. For gas flow measurements, the sensor can be placed on a vertical pipeline without concern for flow direction. If the gas contains some liquid, the flow should be upwards. When measuring liquid flow, ensure the liquid flows upwards to prevent additional weight on the probe.
7.
Side mounting of sensors on horizontal pipelines is versatile for various fluids, especially superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferable whenever possible to reduce the temperature's effect on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. This method is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can measure saturated steam and is ideal for high-temperature liquids or pipelines requiring frequent cleaning.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers, when measuring high-temperature steam, ensure the insulation does not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Selecting pressure and temperature measurement points is crucial. The pressure measurement point should be located 3-5D downstream, while the temperature measurement point should be 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
