Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter from Shandong Zhongziyi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. varies based on site pipeline conditions. For non-pressurized pipelines, flowmeters without a ball valve are suitable, offering flexibility in selection.
Create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening.
For continuous flow requirements or where media overflow is unacceptable, a ball valve is essential. In such cases, choose an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.

The electromagnetic flowmeter requires straight pipe sections of 5D upstream and 3D downstream to ensure accuracy and proper operation.

The electromagnetic flowmeter's measurement principle is independent of flow characteristics.
Even if turbulence and vortices occur in the non-measurement area (e.g., elbows, throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), measurement remains unaffected.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can impact measurement stability and accuracy.
Measures to stabilize flow distribution should be taken when necessary:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section of the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the external environment
    1. Avoid areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation. If unavoidable, ensure insulation and ventilation.
    2. Ideally, install the flowmeter indoors. For outdoor installations, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight with moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments with corrosive gases. If necessary, implement proper ventilation measures.
    4. Ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter for easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. Avoid installation sites with magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If the pipeline vibrates significantly, provide supports on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize it.

1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for straight sections To counteract vortex and flow field distortion effects, adhere to specific lengths for upstream and downstream straight pipe sections; otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Installing a straightener and avoiding proximity to control and partially open valves is advisable.

2.2. Requirements for the process pipes Ensure the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point meet specific requirements to avoid affecting measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's diameter, within the range: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN. b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. Particularly for systems handling heavily contaminated fluids, or in cases where the flowmeter needs cleaning without halting fluid flow, a bypass pipe is essential. a. Facilitates the maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Ensures cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: The inlet should maintain a length of at least 10×DN, and the outlet should maintain a length of at least 5×DN. Ensuring these dimensions will significantly enhance the accuracy and reliability of the flowmeter's performance.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To ensure the reliable operation and high measurement accuracy of the instrument, it must be insulated from external parasitic potentials. The sensor should be well-grounded, with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is properly grounded, a dedicated grounding device is unnecessary.)
