Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter varies depending on the specific pipeline conditions at the site. For flowmeters lacking a ball valve, ensure they are installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. This non-pressurized installation allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve, simplifying the overall installation process.
Prepare a hole with a diameter of 50mm in the pipeline, and make the necessary arrangements to weld a connecting pipe to this opening in the pipeline.
In scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is unacceptable, it is essential to incorporate a ball valve. This necessitates the selection of an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.
Similar to non-pressurized installations, create a hole with a diameter of 50mm in the pipeline, and make preparations to weld a connecting pipe to this opening.

The straight pipe sections should adhere to the requirements of 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This ensures proper functionality of the electromagnetic flowmeter and meets the prescribed accuracy standards.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter remains unaffected by the flow characteristics.
While minor turbulence and vortices generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream) do not impact the measurement, it is crucial to mitigate these disturbances as much as possible.

On the other hand, steady-state vortices present in the measurement area can compromise measurement stability and accuracy.
In such cases, consider implementing the following measures to stabilize flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream.
  2. Utilize a flow stabilizer to enhance flow uniformity.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point to streamline the flow.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas subject to significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation from equipment. If installation in such areas is unavoidable, ensure proper insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. For optimal performance, the flowmeter should ideally be installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, protect the flowmeter from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight by implementing appropriate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Install the flowmeter away from environments containing corrosive gases. If installation in such environments is unavoidable, ensure adequate ventilation.
    4. To facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep, allocate ample installation space around the flowmeter.
    5. The flowmeter installation site should be free from magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. In the presence of significant vibration, stabilize the pipeline by providing supports on both sides of the flowmeter.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To minimize the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, adhere to specific length requirements for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. This is crucial for maintaining measurement accuracy. Alternatively, consider installing a straightener and avoid installation close to control valves and partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for the Process Pipes The flowmeter has precise requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. For optimal measurement accuracy, ensure the following: a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match that of the sensor, adhering to the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the inner diameter of the sensor, and D is the inner diameter of the process pipe). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of your flowmeter, it is highly recommended to incorporate a bypass pipe. This is particularly crucial for handling heavily contaminated fluids and situations where the flowmeter requires cleaning without halting the fluid flow. Key Points: a. Facilitates hassle-free maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for managing heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables continuous fluid flow during cleaning operations.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections For optimal performance of the flowmeter, ensure that the straight pipe sections meet the following criteria: Inlet straight pipe should be ≥ 10×DN and the outlet straight pipe should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation and enhanced measurement accuracy of the instrument, it is imperative to avoid interference from external parasitic potentials. The sensor must be excellently grounded, maintaining a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (Note: If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is not necessary.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Refer to the accompanying diagram for precise installation positioning.
