The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter is contingent on the specific site pipeline conditions. For flowmeters without a ball valve, installation should occur on a non-pressurized pipeline. This method allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve, ensuring ease of installation and optimal performance.
A hole with a diameter of 50 should be made in the pipeline, followed by welding a connecting pipe to the opening. This preparation is crucial to establish a secure and efficient connection.
For scenarios necessitating uninterrupted flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is strictly prohibited, integrating a ball valve is essential. This adaptation necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter equipped with a ball valve structure, ensuring operational continuity and safety.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter remains unaffected by flow characteristics, ensuring consistent and reliable readings.
Turbulence and vortices generated outside the measurement area (such as from elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream) will not impact measurement accuracy, maintaining reliable operation.

However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area can compromise stability and accuracy. Addressing this issue is critical for maintaining precise measurements.
To stabilize flow distribution and ensure measurement accuracy, consider the following measures:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer to mitigate disturbances.
  3. Reduce the cross-section of the measurement point to control flow distribution.
  1. Requirements for the external environment
    1. The flowmeter should be installed away from areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation. If installation in such zones is unavoidable, implement insulation and ventilation measures to protect the device.
    2. For optimal performance, install the flowmeter indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, ensure it is shielded from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight. Implement moisture-proof and sun-proof measures to safeguard the flowmeter.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments with corrosive gases. If such installation is required, ensure adequate ventilation to protect the device.
    4. Allocate ample installation space around the flowmeter to facilitate easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep, ensuring long-term reliability.
    5. The installation site should be free from magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If significant pipeline vibration is present, support both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline and ensure accurate measurements.

1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are mandatory. Failure to comply can compromise measurement accuracy. Installing a straightener is advisable, and avoid placement near control valves and partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has stringent requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. Non-compliance can affect measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's diameter: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. For fluids heavily contaminated or in scenarios where the flowmeter needs cleaning without halting the fluid flow, a bypass pipe is indispensable. a. Facilitates easy and uninterrupted maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows cleaning of the flowmeter without stopping the fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Proper inlet and outlet straight pipe sections are crucial: Inlet should be no less than 10×DN; Outlet should be no less than 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To ensure the instrument's reliable operation and enhance measurement precision, external parasitic potentials should not affect it. The sensor must be well-grounded, with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (Note: If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is not necessary.)
