Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the High Precision Electromagnetic Flowmeter with ANSI Standards and Output from Shandong Zhongziyi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. varies depending on the pipeline conditions at the site. For pipelines without a ball valve, it should be installed on a non-pressurized line, allowing for the selection of flowmeters that do not include a ball valve.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.
In situations requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow must be prevented, a ball valve is essential. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.

The required straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This ensures proper function and precision of the electromagnetic flowmeter.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
If turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (e.g., elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), it will not affect the measurement.

However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area will impact the measurement's stability and accuracy.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section of the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. The flowmeter should avoid areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation. If installation is necessary in such areas, insulation and ventilation measures must be taken.
    2. The flowmeter is ideally installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, it should be protected from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, with moisture-proof and sun-proof measures implemented.
    3. The flowmeter should avoid environments containing corrosive gases. If installation is necessary, adequate ventilation must be provided.
    4. To facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep, ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter.
    5. The installation site should be free from magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If there is significant vibration in the pipeline, supports should be placed on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize it.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are required; otherwise, measurement accuracy could be compromised. Installing a straightener is also advisable, and the meter should not be placed near control valves or partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. To ensure measurement accuracy, the inner diameter of the upstream and downstream pipes should match the sensor's diameter, meeting the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the pipe's inner diameter). The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, installing a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This is especially essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids and scenarios where the flowmeter needs cleaning without halting fluid flow. a. Facilitates easy maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without stopping the fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: For optimal performance, the inlet should be ≥ 10×DN, and the outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation and enhanced measurement accuracy of the instrument, it should remain unaffected by external parasitic potentials. The sensor must be well-grounded, maintaining a grounding resistance of less than 10. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, an additional dedicated grounding device is unnecessary.)
