Optimal Piping Conditions
Proper installation of the vortex flowmeter necessitates specific straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream. The standard configurations include (D represents the pipe diameter):

Install the sensor on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing from bottom to top) that matches the sensor's diameter. Ensure a straight pipe section of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream of the sensor.

Ensure the pipe near the liquid sensor is fully filled with the liquid being measured for accurate readings.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes experiencing strong mechanical vibrations to maintain measurement accuracy.

The inner diameter of the straight pipe section should ideally match the sensor's diameter. If not, use a pipe with a slightly larger diameter, maintaining an error ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Avoid locations with strong electromagnetic interference, space constraints, or maintenance difficulties..

Horizontal pipeline installation is the most prevalent. For gas flow with minor liquid content, place the sensor at the pipeline's higher point. For liquid flow with minor gas content, place the sensor at the lower point.

Vertical pipeline sensor installation. For gas flow, the sensor can be placed without restriction. For gas with minor liquid content, ensure the flow is from bottom to top. For liquid flow, ensure the liquid flows from bottom to top to prevent additional probe weight.
7.
Side-mounting sensors on horizontal pipelines is suitable for all fluids, particularly superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferred if feasible, as it reduces temperature effects on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. It’s unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can measure saturated steam and high-temperature liquids or in frequently cleaned pipelines.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers measuring high-temperature steam, ensure the insulation does not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Pressure and temperature measurement points should be carefully selected. Position the pressure measurement point 3-5D downstream and the temperature measurement point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
