Installation Requirements

Piping condition
For optimal performance, the installation of the vortex flowmeter requires a specific length of straight pipe section before and after the meter. The standard configurations are as follows (D represents the diameter of the pipe):

The sensor must be installed on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing from bottom to top) that matches the sensor's diameter. It is crucial to maintain a straight pipe section length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream of the sensor.
2.
Ensure the pipe near the liquid sensor is fully filled with the measured liquid.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes that experience strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe section should closely match the sensor diameter. If an exact match isn't possible, opt for a slightly larger pipe, with the diameter error kept within ≤3% and no greater than 5mm. The sensor should not be placed in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, restricted space, or where maintenance is challenging..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is the most common method for flow sensors. If measuring gas flow containing small amounts of liquid, install the sensor at the pipeline's higher point. For liquid flow with small amounts of gas, the sensor should be installed at the pipeline's lower point.
6.
In vertical pipeline installations for gas flow measurement, the sensor can be installed without flow direction restrictions. For gases with small liquid amounts, ensure flow is bottom to top. For liquid flow, bottom-to-top installation is recommended to prevent additional weight on the probe.
7.
Side mounting of sensors on horizontal pipelines is suitable regardless of the fluid being measured. This method is especially beneficial for superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferred when conditions permit, as it reduces the temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally not recommended. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids or in situations requiring frequent pipeline cleaning.
9.
When installing sensors on insulated pipelines, for high-temperature steam measurements, ensure the insulation layer does not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Selecting pressure and temperature measurement points is critical. For accurate measurements, position the pressure measurement point 3-5D downstream of the sensor and the temperature measurement point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
