Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter varies depending on the site pipeline conditions. Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. This allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve, simplifying the installation process.
Create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline, and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening. This step ensures a secure and stable installation of the flowmeter.
For scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is prohibited, a ball valve must be integrated. This necessitates choosing an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure for optimal performance.
Create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline, and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening. This guarantees a precise and reliable connection.

The requirements for the straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This ensures the proper use and high accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics, making it versatile for various applications.
If turbulence and vortices are generated in non-measurement areas of the pipeline (such as near elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open valves upstream), the measurement remains unaffected.

However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area can compromise stability and accuracy.
In such cases, implementing measures to stabilize the flow distribution is essential:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream for improved flow stability.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer to ensure consistent and accurate measurements.
  3. Reduce the cross-section of the measurement point for better flow management.
  1. Environmental Requirements for Installation
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or exposure to high-temperature radiation. Insulation and ventilation measures are necessary if installation in such areas is unavoidable.
    2. The flowmeter should ideally be installed indoors. If outdoor installation is required, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight with appropriate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments containing corrosive gases. If this is unavoidable, ensure proper ventilation measures are in place.
    4. Allow ample installation space around the flowmeter to facilitate easy installation, maintenance, and regular upkeep.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter near magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If the pipeline experiences significant vibration, add supports on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize it.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Straight Section Requirements To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortions, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are required. Installing a flow straightener and avoiding proximity to control valves or partially open valves is advisable.

2.2. Process Pipe Requirements The flowmeter has specific needs for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's diameter, satisfying the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. Ensure the process pipe and sensor are concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is particularly crucial for heavily contaminated fluids and scenarios where the flowmeter requires cleaning without interrupting the fluid flow. The following points underline the necessity: a. Facilitates the consistent maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Ensures fluid flow continues unimpeded during cleaning operations of the flowmeter.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections To optimize performance, the straight pipe sections before and after the flowmeter are crucial. The inlet straight pipe section should be at least 10 times the diameter of the pipe (≥ 10×DN), while the outlet straight pipe section should be at least 5 times the diameter of the pipe (≥ 5×DN).

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points For reliable operation and to enhance measurement accuracy, the instrument must be shielded from external parasitic potentials through proper grounding. The sensor should be well-grounded, maintaining a resistance of less than 10 ohms. If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is unnecessary.

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Refer to the accompanying diagram to ensure the correct installation position for optimal functionality.
