Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter varies depending on the site pipeline conditions. Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline (i.e., non-pressurized installation allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve).
A precise hole with a diameter of 50mm should be drilled into the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.
For scenarios requiring uninterrupted flow during loading/unloading or where media overflow is impermissible, a ball valve must be added. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.
A precise hole with a diameter of 50mm should be drilled into the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

To ensure optimal performance and accuracy, the straight pipe sections should be 5D upstream and 3D downstream of the flowmeter.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter remains unaffected by flow characteristics.
If there is turbulence or vortex generation in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (like elbows, tangential throttling, or a partly open shut-off valve upstream), it will not impact measurement accuracy.

However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area can affect the stability and accuracy of the flowmeter readings.
To counteract this, certain measures should be undertaken to stabilize flow distribution:

  1. 1. Extend the length of straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. 2. Employ a flow stabilizer.
  3. 3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or exposure to high-temperature radiation from equipment. If necessary, employ insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. The flowmeter is best installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight with appropriate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments containing corrosive gases. If necessary, ensure proper ventilation.
    4. Ensure ample space around the flowmeter to facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter near magnetic fields or strong vibration sources. If significant pipeline vibration is present, stabilize the pipeline with supports on both sides of the flowmeter.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate vortex and flow field distortion effects, adhere to specific straight pipe section lengths upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. A straightener can be installed, and avoid installation close to control or partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has exacting requirements for upstream and downstream process pipes to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of these pipes should match the sensor's and meet: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN. b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation of no more than 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for bypass pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. For scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids, or when the flowmeter requires cleaning without halting fluid flow, a bypass pipe installation becomes essential. a. Facilitates the maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting fluid flow.

3. Installation requirements for insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for straight pipe sections Inlet/outlet straight pipe sections: The inlet section should be at least 10×DN, and the outlet section should be at least 5×DN. This setup ensures optimal flow conditions and accurate measurements.

3.2. Requirements for grounding points To guarantee the reliable operation of the instrument and enhance measurement accuracy, the flowmeter must be insulated from external parasitic potentials. It is crucial to ensure the sensor is properly grounded, with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline has adequate grounding, additional grounding devices are not necessary.)

3.3. Requirements for installation position Refer to the accompanying diagram for precise installation positioning.
