Installation Requirements

Piping Condition
The installation of a vortex flowmeter requires a specific straight pipe section both before and after the meter. The common requirements are as follows (D refers to the pipe diameter):

The sensor must be installed on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with the liquid flowing from bottom to top) that matches the sensor's diameter. Ensure there are straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream of the sensor, with 15-20D for the front section and 5-10D for the rear section.
2.
The pipe near the liquid sensor should be filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes subjected to strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe section should be as close as possible to the sensor diameter. If not, use a slightly larger diameter with a deviation of ≤3% and no more than 5mm. Avoid locations with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or difficult maintenance..
5.
For gas flow measurement, if the gas contains a small amount of liquid, install the sensor at a higher pipeline point. For liquid flow measurement, if the liquid has a small amount of gas, install the sensor at a lower pipeline point.
6.
In vertical pipelines, for gas flow, the sensor can be installed without flow direction restriction. If the gas contains liquid, the flow should be from bottom to top. For liquid flow, it should be from bottom to top to avoid excess weight on the probe.
7.
On horizontal pipelines, sensors can be side-mounted regardless of the fluid type. This method is ideal for superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids as it minimizes temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally not recommended. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids, or when frequent pipeline cleaning is required.
9.
When installing sensors on pipelines with insulation layers, for high-temperature steam, the insulation layer should not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Selecting pressure and temperature measurement points: Pressure should be measured 3-5D downstream, and temperature should be measured 6-8D downstream of the sensor, depending on measurement requirements.
