Ensure the straight pipe sections meet the requirements: 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This guarantees the proper use and accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter.
The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
Turbulence and vortices in non-measurement areas (like elbows or partially open valves) won't affect the measurement.
However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area can compromise measurement stability and accuracy.
To stabilize the flow distribution, consider the following measures:
1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate vortices and flow field distortion, ensure appropriate lengths for the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections. Otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Installing a straightener and avoiding proximity to control valves and partially open valves is advisable.
2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter requires specific upstream and downstream process pipe conditions at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy: a. The inner diameters of upstream and downstream process pipes must match the sensor's diameter, meeting the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN. b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation of no more than 0.05DN.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance and optimal performance of the flowmeter, installing a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This is particularly crucial for operations involving heavily contaminated fluids or situations where the flowmeter needs to be cleaned without halting the fluid flow. a. Facilitates seamless maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory installation for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows cleaning of the flowmeter without stopping fluid flow.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet and outlet straight pipe sections are critical for optimal performance. The inlet should be no less than 10×DN, and the outlet should be no less than 5×DN.
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To ensure reliable operation and enhanced measurement accuracy, proper grounding is essential. The sensor should be grounded with a resistance of less than 10 ohms to avoid external parasitic potentials. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is not necessary.)
3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Follow the installation position as illustrated in the diagram.
