Installation Requirements

Piping condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter demands a certain length of straight pipe sections both before and after the meter. Here are the common configurations (D represents the pipe diameter):

1.
Position the sensor on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing bottom to top) matching the sensor diameter. Ensure a straight pipe length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream.
2.
Ensure the pipe near the liquid sensor is filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes subjected to intense mechanical vibrations.
4.
Maintain consistency between the inner diameter of the straight pipe section and the sensor diameter. If they differ, use a slightly larger pipe with an error margin ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Steer clear of areas with strong electromagnetic interference, constrained spaces, or difficult maintenance conditions..

The horizontal pipeline is the most common for flow sensor installations. When measuring gas flow containing minor liquid quantities, place the sensor at a higher pipeline point. Conversely, for liquid flow containing minor gas quantities, install the sensor at a lower pipeline point.
6.
For vertical pipeline installations measuring gas flow, there is no flow direction restriction. If the gas contains a small amount of liquid, the flow should be from bottom to top. For liquid flow, ensure the flow is bottom to top to reduce probe weight.
7.
Side-mounting sensors on horizontal pipelines is viable for all fluids, particularly for superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. If feasible, prefer side mounting to minimize temperature effects on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is not generally recommended. It's unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids or when pipelines require frequent cleaning.
9.
When installing on pipelines with insulation layers for high-temperature steam, maintain the insulation layer to one-third the bracket height.
10.
Selecting pressure and temperature measurement points: Place the pressure measurement point 3-5D downstream and the temperature measurement point 6-8D downstream of the sensor, as per measurement needs.
