Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. This allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve, ensuring ease of installation in low-pressure environments.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening. This ensures a secure and leak-proof connection.
For applications requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve must be added. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure for optimal performance and safety.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter does not depend on the characteristics of the flow, making it versatile and applicable in various scenarios.
If there is turbulence and vortices generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), it will not affect the measurement. This resilience is key for maintaining measurement integrity.
However, if there are steady-state vortices in the measurement area, it will affect the stability and accuracy of the measurement. Addressing this is essential for maintaining high measurement standards.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:
1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific requirements for the lengths of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter must be met; otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Installing a straightener and avoiding installation close to control valves and partially open valves are advisable.
2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. The inner diameter of the process pipes should match that of the sensor, meeting the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN, ensuring compatibility and accuracy. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN to maintain measurement precision.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. For applications involving heavily contaminated fluids, or scenarios where the fluid flow cannot be halted for cleaning, the installation of a bypass pipe becomes imperative. a. Facilitates easy maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting the fluid flow.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: To guarantee optimal performance, the inlet should have a straight pipe section of ≥ 10×DN, while the outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To secure reliable operation and enhance measurement precision, it is crucial that the instrument remains unaffected by external parasitic potentials. The sensor must be properly grounded, with grounding resistance less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, there is no need for a dedicated grounding device.)
