Piping condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter requires specific straight pipe sections both before and after the sensor. The typical configurations are as follows (D represents the diameter of the pipe):
1.
The sensor should be mounted on a pipe that is horizontal, vertical, or inclined (with the liquid flowing from bottom to top) and must match the sensor's diameter. Ensure a straight pipe length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream.
2.
The pipe near the liquid sensor must be completely filled with the liquid to be measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes with strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
Ensure the inner diameter of the straight pipe section aligns with the sensor diameter. If not feasible, use a slightly larger diameter with ≤3% error or no more than 5mm. Avoid installation areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or maintenance difficulties..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is most common. For gas flow with minor liquid presence, place the sensor at a higher point. For liquid flow with minor gas presence, place it at a lower point.
6.
In vertical pipelines, the sensor can be installed with no flow direction restrictions for gas flow. If gas contains liquid, the flow should go from bottom to top. For liquid flow, it should also go from bottom to top to avoid additional weight on the probe.
7.
Side installation on horizontal pipelines is suitable for superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferred if possible, as it minimizes temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids, or where pipelines need frequent cleaning.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers, when measuring high-temperature steam, ensure the insulation layer does not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Pressure and temperature measurement points should be selected based on measurement needs. The pressure point should be 3-5D downstream, and the temperature point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
