Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline, allowing for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve.
A 50mm diameter hole should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.
In situations requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve must be added. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.
A 50mm diameter hole should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.

To ensure the optimal performance and accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter, the requirements for the straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream.
The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter remains unaffected by the characteristics of the flow.
Turbulence and vortices generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline, such as elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream, will not impact the measurement.
However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area will adversely affect both stability and accuracy.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:
1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter must be maintained. Alternatively, a straightener can be installed. It is advisable to avoid installation close to control valves and partially open valves.
2.2. Requirements for the Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match that of the sensor and must meet the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the inner diameter of the sensor, and D is the inner diameter of the process pipe). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, the installation of a bypass pipe is highly recommended. For scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids or when cleaning the flowmeter without halting the fluid flow is necessary, a bypass pipe is essential. a. Facilitates easy maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Ensures the fluid flow is uninterrupted during flowmeter cleaning.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: The inlet section must be at least 10 times the diameter of the pipe (≥ 10×DN), and the outlet section must be at least 5 times the diameter of the pipe (≥ 5×DN).
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation and enhanced accuracy of the instrument, it must be protected from external parasitic potentials. The sensor should be properly grounded, with grounding resistance kept below 10. (If the metal pipeline is sufficiently grounded, no additional grounding device is needed.)
3.3. Requirements for Installation Position As detailed in the accompanying diagram.
