Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter depends on the specific site pipeline conditions. For non-pressurized pipelines, where a ball valve isn't required, you may choose a flowmeter model without a ball valve, simplifying the installation process.
Create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening for secure attachment.
In scenarios requiring continuous flow during operations or where media overflow is unacceptable, incorporating a ball valve is essential. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure for precise control.
Create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening, ensuring a robust and secure connection.

To ensure optimal performance and accuracy, the straight pipe sections should be 5D upstream and 3D downstream of the electromagnetic flowmeter.

The electromagnetic flowmeter's measurement principle is independent of the flow characteristics, providing reliable readings under various conditions.
Even if turbulence and vortices occur in the non-measurement areas of the pipeline (such as due to elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), the measurement accuracy remains unaffected.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can impact both the stability and accuracy of the readings.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution, including the following:

  1. Increasing the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter.
  2. Using a flow stabilizer to maintain a uniform flow profile.
  3. Reducing the cross-section at the measurement point to minimize disturbances.
  1. Requirements for the external environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or where it is exposed to high-temperature radiation. If installation in such areas is unavoidable, implement insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. Prefer indoor installation for the flowmeter. If outdoor installation is necessary, ensure it is protected from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, and implement moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid environments containing corrosive gases for flowmeter installation. If unavoidable, ensure proper ventilation measures are in place.
    4. Ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter to facilitate easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter near magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If there is significant vibration in the pipeline, provide supports on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for straight sections To reduce the impact of vortices and flow field distortion, adhere to specific requirements for the lengths of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. This ensures measurement accuracy and it is advisable to avoid installation close to control valves and partially open valves. A straightener can also be installed if needed.

2.2. Requirements for process pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. a. The inner diameters of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match that of the sensor, meeting the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN to ensure accurate measurement.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of your high-accuracy flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is especially critical for scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids or situations that necessitate cleaning the flowmeter without halting fluid flow. a. Facilitates maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without stopping fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Ensure optimal performance with precise placement of inlet and outlet straight pipe sections: Inlet should be ≥ 10×DN; Outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee reliable operation and enhance measurement accuracy of the instrument, it is imperative to safeguard it from external parasitic potentials. The sensor must be properly grounded with a grounding resistance below 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is not necessary.)
