Installation Requirements

Piping Condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter necessitates having a specific length of straight pipe section before and after the device. The typical requirements are as follows (D represents the pipe diameter):

For optimal performance, the sensor should be installed on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing from bottom to top) that matches the sensor's diameter. Ensure a straight pipe length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream.
2.
The pipe adjacent to the liquid sensor must be filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes with strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe should closely match the sensor’s diameter. If not identical, use a marginally larger pipe with an error ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Avoid areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or difficult maintenance..

Horizontal pipeline installation is most common. For gas flow with trace liquids, install the sensor at a high point. For liquid flow with trace gases, install the sensor at a low point in the pipeline.
6.
In vertical pipelines, for gas flow, install the sensor with no flow direction restriction. If the gas contains liquids, flow should be upwards. For liquid flow, ensure the liquid flows from bottom to top to avoid additional weight on the probe.
7.
Side installation on horizontal pipelines is suitable for fluids, especially superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferable as it reduces temperature effects on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged and unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam. However, it can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids, and situations requiring frequent pipeline cleaning.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers, when measuring high-temperature steam, ensure the insulation layer does not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Pressure and temperature measurement points should be strategically located. The pressure point should be 3-5D downstream, and the temperature point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
