Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter varies depending on the site pipeline conditions. Flowmeters that do not incorporate a ball valve should be installed on non-pressurized pipelines. This ensures that non-pressurized installation allows the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve.
Create a hole with a 50mm diameter in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline.
For applications that require continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve must be added. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.

The straight pipe sections should be 5D upstream and 3D downstream to ensure proper use and meet accuracy requirements of the electromagnetic flowmeter.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics.
If turbulence and vortices are present in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (e.g., elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), they will not affect the measurement.

However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area can affect the stability and accuracy of the measurement.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section of the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation from equipment. If necessary, apply insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. The flowmeter is best installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight with moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments with corrosive gases. If necessary, implement ventilation measures.
    4. Ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter for easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter near magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If the pipeline vibrates significantly, stabilize it with supports on both sides of the flowmeter.

1.2. Pipeline-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate vortices and flow field distortion, specific upstream and downstream straight pipe lengths are required. Failure to meet these requirements will affect measurement accuracy (installing a straightener and avoiding control valves and partially open valves is advisable).

2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy: a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's inner diameter and meet the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of your flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is particularly crucial for systems dealing with heavily contaminated fluids and scenarios where cleaning the flowmeter without halting fluid flow is necessary. Key points include: a. Facilitates flowmeter maintenance. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows for cleaning the flowmeter without interrupting fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Proper straight pipe sections are crucial for optimal performance. Ensure that the inlet straight pipe section is at least 10 times the diameter of the nominal bore (≥ 10×DN) and the outlet straight pipe section is at least 5 times the diameter (≥ 5×DN).

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee reliable instrument operation and enhance measurement accuracy, it is imperative to mitigate the impact of external parasitic potentials. Ensure the sensor is well-grounded, achieving a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is adequately grounded, a separate grounding device is not necessary.)

3.3. Installation Position Ensure the flowmeter is installed in the position illustrated in the provided diagram for optimal performance.
