Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter varies depending on the site pipeline conditions. Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline, allowing the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.
For situations requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve must be added. This involves selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.

The requirements for the straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream to ensure the proper use and accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter does not depend on the characteristics of the flow.
If turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), measurement will remain unaffected.

However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area will affect measurement stability and accuracy.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Use a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section of the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the external environment
    1. Avoid installation in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation. If necessary, implement insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. The flowmeter is best installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, protect it from rain, flooding, direct sunlight, and ensure moisture-proof and sun-proof measures are in place.
    3. Avoid installation in environments with corrosive gases. If necessary, implement ventilation measures.
    4. Ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter to facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. Avoid installation in areas with magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If significant pipeline vibration exists, provide supports on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are required, or measurement accuracy will be affected. A straightener can also be installed, and it is advisable to avoid installation close to control valves and partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. Otherwise, measurement accuracy will be affected. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor and meet the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, incorporating a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This setup is crucial, especially when dealing with heavily contaminated fluids or in scenarios where the flowmeter requires cleaning while maintaining fluid flow. a. Facilitates effortless flowmeter maintenance. b. Essential for managing heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting the fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: To achieve optimal performance, the inlet should measure ≥ 10×DN, and the outlet should measure ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the instrument's reliable operation and enhance measurement precision, it must be safeguarded against external parasitic potentials. Achieving this requires the sensor to have excellent grounding, with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device may not be necessary.)
