The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter varies depending on the site pipeline conditions. For pipelines without a ball valve, it should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. This allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve, promoting ease and flexibility in installation.
A hole with a diameter of 50 mm should be made in the pipeline, followed by preparations to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline. This ensures a secure and stable connection for the flowmeter.
For situations requiring continuous flow during operations or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve must be integrated. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure, guaranteeing operational continuity and safety.
A hole with a diameter of 50 mm should be made in the pipeline, and preparations initiated to weld a connecting pipe to the pipeline's opening, ensuring a robust and reliable installation.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of flow characteristics, ensuring consistent performance under various conditions.
Even if turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as at elbows, tangential throttling points, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), it will not impact measurement accuracy.

However, steady-state vortices in the measurement area will affect measurement stability and accuracy, making it essential to address these conditions.
To stabilize the flow distribution and enhance measurement accuracy, the following measures should be considered:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream to promote a stable flow.
  2. Utilize a flow stabilizer to normalize and smoothen the flow.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point to minimize disturbances and ensure accurate readings.
  1. Requirements for the external environment
    1. The flowmeter should be installed in areas free from significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation from equipment. If unavoidable, implement insulation and ventilation measures to protect the flowmeter.
    2. Indoor installation is preferable. If outdoor installation is necessary, ensure protection from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight. Employ moisture-proof and sun-proof measures to safeguard the flowmeter.
    3. Avoid installation in environments containing corrosive gases. If it is necessary, ensure proper ventilation to protect the flowmeter from damage.
    4. To facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep, ensure ample space around the flowmeter. This allows for easy access and efficient maintenance operations.
    5. The installation site should be free from magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If there is significant pipeline vibration, provide supports on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline and ensure accurate measurements.

1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, adhere to specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. Alternatively, installing a straightener can help maintain measurement accuracy, and it is advisable to avoid installation close to control valves and partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy: a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's diameter and meet the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the High Reliability Electromagnetic Flowmeter with Threaded Design and Easy Installation, it is optimal to incorporate a bypass pipe. This is especially crucial when dealing with heavily contaminated fluids or when the flowmeter needs to be cleaned without halting fluid flow. a. Facilitates convenient maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for managing heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: The inlet should be at least 10×DN, while the outlet should be at least 5×DN. Ensuring these dimensions guarantees optimal performance and accurate measurements.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To achieve reliable instrument operation and enhance measurement precision, the flowmeter must be insulated from external parasitic potentials. Proper grounding of the sensor, with grounding resistance below 10, is required. (If the metal pipeline is already well grounded, a dedicated grounding device is unnecessary.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Refer to the accompanying diagram for specific installation positioning guidelines to ensure optimal functioning of the electromagnetic flowmeter.
