Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. This non-pressurized installation allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve, ensuring smooth and precise measurement.
Ensure a precise installation by creating a hole with a diameter of 50mm in the pipeline, then prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening. This facilitates a robust connection and accurate flow measurement.
For operations requiring continuous flow and where media overflow must be avoided, incorporating a ball valve is essential. This necessitates choosing an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter equipped with a ball valve structure, ensuring uninterrupted and secure flow management.

To ensure optimal performance and measurement accuracy, the straight pipe sections should be 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This setup guarantees the electromagnetic flowmeter functions correctly and meets all precision requirements.
The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of flow characteristics, ensuring versatile and reliable operation across various conditions.
Even if turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (due to elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), the measurement accuracy remains unaffected.
However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can compromise stability and accuracy. Addressing such issues is crucial for maintaining precise measurements.
In such cases, implement measures to stabilize the flow distribution:
1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are mandated. Otherwise, measurement accuracy may be compromised. Installing a straightener and avoiding close proximity to control valves and partially open valves is advisable.
2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has precise requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's inner diameter, meeting the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). Additionally, the process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is particularly crucial for handling heavily contaminated fluids or in instances where the flowmeter requires cleaning without interrupting the fluid flow. a. Facilitates maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without halting fluid flow.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: For optimal performance, the inlet should be ≥ 10×DN and the outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation of the instrument and enhance measurement accuracy, the sensor must not be influenced by external parasitic potentials. It should be well-grounded with a grounding resistance of less than 10. (If the metal pipeline is sufficiently grounded, a dedicated grounding device is unnecessary.)
3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Refer to the diagram for precise installation positioning.
