Installation Requirements

Piping condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter requires specific straight pipe sections both before and after the device to ensure optimal performance. The common configurations are as follows (D represents the diameter of the pipe):

The sensor must be placed on a pipe that is horizontal, vertical, or inclined (with liquid flowing from bottom to top) and matching the sensor’s diameter. Ensure that the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream match the length requirements of 15-20D for the front and 5-10D for the rear.
2.
The pipe near the liquid sensor must be fully filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes that experience strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe sections should be consistent with the sensor’s diameter. If not, a slightly larger diameter pipe should be used, with a tolerance of ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Avoid locations with strong electromagnetic interference, restricted space, or where maintenance is inconvenient..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is the most common for flow sensors. When measuring gas flow that includes a small amount of liquid, install the sensor at a higher point. For liquid flow containing small amounts of gas, install the sensor at a lower point.
6.
For vertical pipeline installations measuring gas flow, the sensor can be installed in any flow direction. If the gas contains a small amount of liquid, ensure the flow is from bottom to top. When measuring liquid flow, maintain the liquid flow from bottom to top to prevent extra weight on the probe.
7.
Side installation on horizontal pipelines is suitable for all fluids, especially superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferred to reduce temperature effects on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam, high-temperature liquids, or pipelines that require frequent cleaning.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers measuring high-temperature steam, the insulation should not exceed one-third of the bracket's height.
10.
When pressure and temperature measurements are needed near the sensor, locate the pressure measurement point 3-5D downstream and the temperature measurement point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
