Piping condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter necessitates a specific length of straight pipe sections upstream and downstream. Common requirements are as follows (D denotes the pipe diameter):
1.
Install the sensor on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (liquid flowing bottom to top) with a diameter matching the sensor. Ensure a straight pipe length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream.
2.
Ensure the pipe near the liquid sensor is fully filled with the liquid being measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes with strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe should align with the sensor diameter. If not, use a slightly larger pipe with an error of ≤3%, not exceeding 5mm. Avoid areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or difficult maintenance..
5.
For horizontal pipelines, which are most common, install the sensor at a higher point if measuring gas with some liquid, and lower if measuring liquid with some gas.
6.
For vertical pipelines, install the sensor with no flow direction restriction for gas. Ensure gas flow is bottom to top if containing liquid. For liquid flow, install bottom to top to avoid probe weight.
7.
Side-mount sensors on horizontal pipelines for any fluid, especially superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferred for minimal temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. It suits high-temperature liquids and saturated steam, especially where frequent cleaning is needed.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers, the insulation should not exceed one-third of the bracket height when measuring high-temperature steam.
10.
For pressure and temperature measurements, place the pressure point 3-5D downstream and the temperature point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
