Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter adapts to the specific pipeline conditions on site. For non-pressurized pipelines, opt for flowmeters without a ball valve. This allows seamless, non-pressurized installation.
Drill a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening.
For uninterrupted flow needs during loading/unloading or to prevent media overflow, incorporate a ball valve. Consequently, select an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.

To ensure optimal performance and accuracy, adhere to the requirements for straight pipe sections: 5D upstream and 3D downstream.

The electromagnetic flowmeter's measurement principle is independent of the flow characteristics.
Even if turbulence and vortices are present in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as near elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), measurement remains unaffected.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can impair stability and accuracy.
In such cases, implement measures to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Extend the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Install a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. External Environment Requirements
    1. Install the flowmeter in areas with minimal temperature fluctuations and away from high-temperature radiation. If unavoidable, ensure proper insulation and ventilation.
    2. Preferably installed indoors, if the flowmeter must be placed outdoors, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight using moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid corrosive gas environments for installation. If necessary, implement adequate ventilation measures.
    4. Ensure ample space around the flowmeter for easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter near magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. Use supports on both sides if the pipeline experiences significant vibration to stabilize it.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Straight Section Requirements To mitigate the impact of vortices and flow field distortion, adhere to specific lengths for upstream and downstream straight pipe sections, or use a straightener and avoid proximity to control and partially open valves.

2.2. Process Pipe Requirements Ensure the upstream and downstream process pipes match the sensor's inner diameter (0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN) and are concentric with minimal axial deviation (≤0.05DN).

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance and optimal performance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is especially crucial for systems handling heavily contaminated fluids or for scenarios requiring flowmeter cleaning without halting the fluid flow. a. Facilitates easy maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for systems with heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enables cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters Proper installation of insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeters is essential to guarantee accurate and reliable measurements.

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections To ensure accurate flow measurement, it is essential to maintain the recommended lengths of straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. The inlet should be ≥ 10×DN, and the outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points For reliable operation and enhanced measurement accuracy, the sensor must be well-grounded to avoid interference from external parasitic potentials. The grounding resistance should be less than 10 ohms. If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a separate grounding device is not necessary.

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Detailed installation positions should be referred to as shown in the provided diagram to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
