Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter depends on the specific conditions of the site pipeline. For flowmeters without a ball valve, it is crucial to install them on a non-pressurized pipeline, which offers the flexibility to select flowmeters without the need for a ball valve.
Prepare to create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and make arrangements to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.
In scenarios demanding continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is unacceptable, utilizing a ball valve is imperative. This necessitates the choice of an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter equipped with a ball valve structure.
Similar to previous instructions, create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

The straight pipe sections must adhere to the requirements of 5D upstream and 3D downstream, ensuring optimal performance of the electromagnetic flowmeter while meeting accuracy standards.

The electromagnetic flowmeter's measurement principle is independent of flow characteristics.
If turbulence and vortices are present in the non-measurement areas of the pipeline (like elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), they will not affect the measurement.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area will compromise the stability and accuracy of the readings.
In such cases, take action to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections.
  2. Implement a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section of the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the External Environment
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or exposure to high-temperature radiation. If unavoidable, ensure proper insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. For optimal performance, install the flowmeter indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, employing moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Steer clear of environments with corrosive gases. If installation in such areas is necessary, implement adequate ventilation measures.
    4. Ensure ample installation space around the flowmeter to facilitate easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. Avoid installing the flowmeter near magnetic fields or strong vibration sources. If the pipeline experiences significant vibration, support both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize it.

1.2. Pipeline-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To alleviate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, the flowmeter requires specific lengths of straight pipe sections upstream and downstream to maintain measurement accuracy. Installing a straightener and avoiding proximity to control valves and partially open valves is advisable.

2.2. Requirements for the Process Pipes The upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point must meet specific standards to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's inner diameter, fulfilling the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the inner diameter of the process pipe). b. The process pipe and the sensor should be concentric, with axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes In order to ensure seamless maintenance and operational efficiency of the flowmeter, the installation of a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This is particularly crucial for scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids or when the flowmeter needs cleaning without halting the fluid flow. Key stipulations are: a. Ensuring ease of maintenance for the flowmeter. b. Mandatory installation for use with heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enabling cleaning of the flowmeter without interrupting fluid flow.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections For optimal performance, the straight pipe sections at the inlet and outlet must adhere to the following specifications: Inlet should be ≥ 10×DN; Outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Grounding Requirements To guarantee reliable operation and enhance measurement precision, the sensor must be properly grounded to avoid the influence of external parasitic potentials. The grounding resistance should be less than 10. (If the metal pipeline is effectively grounded, an additional dedicated grounding device is unnecessary.)

3.3. Installation Position Requirements Refer to the provided diagram for precise installation positioning.
