Installation Instructions
 

The installation of the electromagnetic flowmeter is contingent upon the specific site pipeline conditions. For pipelines without a ball valve, the flowmeter should be installed in a non-pressurized pipe. This flexibility allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve under non-pressurized conditions.
Create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening.
In scenarios requiring uninterrupted flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is unacceptable, a ball valve is essential. Therefore, selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure is necessary.
Create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening.

To ensure optimal performance of the electromagnetic flowmeter and meet accuracy requirements, it is necessary to have straight pipe sections measuring 5D upstream and 3D downstream.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of flow characteristics.
Even with the presence of turbulence and vortices in the non-measurement area of the pipeline-such as at elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream-the measurement remains unaffected.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can compromise the stability and accuracy of the readings.
In such cases, measures should be implemented to stabilize flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream.
  2. Utilize a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the external environment
    1. The flowmeter should be installed in locations that avoid significant temperature fluctuations and high-temperature radiation from equipment. If installation in such areas is crucial, ensure adequate insulation and ventilation are employed.
    2. The ideal installation environment for the flowmeter is indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, protective measures against rain, flooding, and direct sunlight must be implemented, along with moisture-proof and sun-proof solutions.
    3. Install the flowmeter away from environments containing corrosive gases. If such installation is unavoidable, proper ventilation measures must be taken.
    4. Ensure there is ample installation space around the flowmeter to facilitate easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. The installation site should be free of magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. If the pipeline experiences significant vibration, supports should be installed on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for straight sections To minimize the impact of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter must be adhered to. Failure to do so will affect measurement accuracy (a straightener is also an option, and it is advisable to avoid installation near control valves and partially open valves).

2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has precise requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. Non-compliance can affect measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's, adhering to the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This becomes imperative in handling heavily contaminated fluids or scenarios where the flowmeter requires cleaning without halting the fluid flow: a. Facilitates convenient maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for managing heavily contaminated fluids. c. Ensures continuous fluid flow during necessary cleaning of the flowmeter.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: The inlet should be at least 10 times the nominal diameter (≥ 10×DN), and the outlet should be at least 5 times the nominal diameter (≥ 5×DN).

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation of the instrument and enhance measurement precision, it should remain unaffected by external parasitic potentials. The sensor must be properly grounded, with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (A dedicated grounding device is unnecessary if the metal pipeline is sufficiently grounded.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Refer to the diagram for the specific installation position requirements.
