Installation Requirements

Piping condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter requires a specific length of straight pipe before and after the sensor. The usual configurations are as follows (D represents the diameter of the pipe):

The sensor should be mounted on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with the liquid flowing upwards) that matches the sensor's diameter. Ensure a straight pipe section of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream.
2.
The pipe near the sensor should be completely filled with the measured liquid.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes that experience strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
Ensure the inner diameter of the straight pipe section closely matches the sensor diameter. If a match isn't possible, use a slightly larger pipe with a maximum error of ≤3% or 5mm. Do not install the sensor in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or where maintenance is difficult..
5.
For horizontal pipeline installations, which are most common, place the sensor at a higher point for gas flows containing liquid and at a lower point for liquid flows containing gas.
6.
For vertical pipelines, install the sensor to measure gas flow in any direction. If the gas contains liquid, ensure the gas flows from bottom to top. For liquid flows, the direction should be bottom to top to avoid extra weight on the probe.
7.
Sensors may be side-mounted on horizontal pipelines regardless of the fluid type. This is particularly beneficial for superheated steam, saturated steam, or low-temperature liquids, as it minimizes temperature effects on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally not advisable. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids, especially if frequent pipeline cleaning is necessary.
9.
When installing sensors on pipelines with insulation layers, ensure the insulation does not cover more than one-third of the bracket height, particularly for high-temperature steam.
10.
Select pressure and temperature measurement points carefully. For accurate readings, position the pressure measurement point 3-5D downstream and the temperature measurement point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
