Piping Condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter necessitates a certain length of straight pipe section both upstream and downstream. Here are some common scenarios (D stands for the diameter of the pipe):
1.
The sensor should be installed on a pipe that is horizontal, vertical, or inclined (with the liquid flowing from bottom to top) and matches the sensor's diameter. Ensure a straight pipe length of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream of the sensor.
2.
The pipe near the liquid sensor must be filled with the liquid being measured for accurate readings.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes subjected to strong mechanical vibrations to maintain accuracy and longevity.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe section should closely match the sensor's diameter. If it cannot match exactly, use a slightly larger diameter pipe with a deviation of ≤3% and not exceeding 5mm. Avoid areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or where maintenance would be inconvenient..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is most common. For gas flow with minor liquid content, place the sensor at a higher pipeline position. For liquid flow with minor gas content, position the sensor at a lower pipeline point.
6.
For vertical pipelines, sensors can be installed without flow direction restrictions for gas flow. If the gas contains some liquid, the flow should ascend from bottom to top. For liquid flow, ensure the flow is from bottom to top to avoid adding weight to the probe.
7.
Side installation of sensors on horizontal pipelines is versatile. It is particularly effective for superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting, if feasible, minimizes temperature impact on the amplifier and is thus preferable.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally not recommended. It is unsuitable for most gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids, or in scenarios requiring frequent pipeline cleaning.
9.
When measuring high-temperature steam, the insulation layer should not exceed one-third of the bracket height to ensure proper functioning.
10.
Pressure and temperature measurement points should be selected based on the measurement needs. Position the pressure measurement point 3-5D downstream and the temperature measurement point 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
