Installation Instructions
 

The installation process for the electromagnetic flowmeter is tailored to the specific pipeline conditions on-site. For non-pressurized pipelines, where flowmeters can be selected without a ball valve, the installation should occur on a non-pressurized pipeline.
Create a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening for optimal functionality.
In scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is not permissible, it is essential to include a ball valve. This necessitates the selection of an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter equipped with a ball valve structure.
Similarly, a 50mm diameter hole should be made in the pipeline, with preparations made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

For accurate measurements, ensure the straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream, which is crucial for the proper functioning of the electromagnetic flowmeter.

The electromagnetic flowmeter's measurement principle is unaffected by the flow characteristics.
Even if turbulence and vortices arise in the non-measurement areas of the pipeline (such as around elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve), the measurement remains unaffected.

Nonetheless, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can disrupt the stability and accuracy of the readings.
To stabilize the flow distribution and ensure precision:

  1. Extend the lengths of the straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream.
  2. Incorporate a flow stabilizer.
  3. Minimize the cross-section at the measurement point.
  1. Essential External Environment Requirements
    1. Avoid installation in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation from equipment. If unavoidable, employ insulation and ventilation measures.
    2. Preferably, install the flowmeter indoors. If outdoor installation is required, it must be protected from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight, with necessary moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. The installation site should avoid environments containing corrosive gases. If installation is necessary, ensure adequate ventilation.
    4. Allow ample installation space around the flowmeter for easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. The installation site should be free from magnetic fields and strong vibration sources. For pipelines with significant vibration, support the flowmeter on both sides to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Straight Section Requirements To mitigate the impact of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are required. Alternatively, a straightener can be installed. Avoid placing the flowmeter close to control valves and partially open valves.

2.2. Process Pipe Requirements The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To facilitate seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. In scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids or when the flowmeter needs to be cleaned without interrupting the fluid flow, a bypass pipe is mandatory. a. Essential for hassle-free maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Crucial for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Necessary for cleaning the flowmeter without stopping the fluid.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: For optimal performance, the inlet should be at least 10 times the DN, while the outlet should be at least 5 times the DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To ensure the instrument operates reliably and achieves high measurement accuracy, it should be protected from external parasitic potentials. The sensor must be well-grounded, with a grounding resistance of less than 10. (If the metal pipeline already has good grounding, a dedicated grounding device is optional.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position The installation position should be as shown in the provided diagram.
