Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on non-pressurized pipelines, where the absence of pressure allows for the selection of these flowmeters.
A precise hole with a 50mm diameter should be created in the pipeline, followed by welding a connecting pipe to this new opening to ensure a secure fit.
For scenarios demanding continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is strictly prohibited, integrating a ball valve is essential. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a robust ball valve structure.
Similarly, a 50mm diameter hole should be made in the pipeline, and provisions should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the resultant opening.

Even if turbulence and vortices form in the non-measurement area of the pipeline, such as around elbows, tangential throttling points, or partially open shut-off valves upstream, these disturbances will not impact the measurement accuracy.

However, stable vortices present within the measurement area can compromise both the stability and accuracy of measurements.
In such cases, it is advisable to implement measures to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Extend the length of the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections.
  2. Employ a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-sectional area at the measurement point.
  1. Requirements for the external environment
    1. To maintain optimal performance, the flowmeter should be installed away from areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation. If unavoidable, proper insulation and ventilation measures must be taken.
    2. For best results, the flowmeter should be installed indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, ensure it is protected against rain, flooding, direct sunlight, and incorporate moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid installing the flowmeter in environments containing corrosive gases. If necessary, ensure proper ventilation measures are in place.
    4. Ensure ample space around the flowmeter for easy installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. The installation site should be free from magnetic fields and strong vibrations. If significant pipeline vibrations are present, supports should be installed on both sides of the flowmeter to stabilize the pipeline.

1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter

2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate vortices and flow field distortion, adhere to specified lengths for upstream and downstream straight pipe sections; otherwise, measurement accuracy will suffer. A straightener can be employed, and it's best to avoid placement near control or partially open valves.

2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter requires specific conditions for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation site to ensure measurement accuracy: a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes must match the sensor: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with no more than a 0.05DN axial deviation.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes Ensuring seamless maintenance of your flowmeter is paramount; hence, the installation of a bypass pipe is strongly recommended. Particularly, in scenarios involving heavily contaminated fluids or when the flowmeter requires cleaning without interrupting the flow, a bypass pipe becomes indispensable. a. Facilitates easy maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Ensures continuous fluid flow during flowmeter cleaning.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Proper installation of inlet and outlet straight pipe sections is crucial. For optimal performance, the inlet should be ≥ 10×DN and the outlet should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation and enhance the measurement accuracy of the instrument, it is vital to minimize the impact of external parasitic potentials. Ensure the sensor is well-grounded with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline is adequately grounded, a dedicated grounding device may not be necessary.)
