Installation Instructions
 

The installation approach for the electromagnetic flowmeter is contingent upon the specific pipeline conditions at your site. For pipelines that are non-pressurized, a flowmeter without a ball valve should be selected. This ensures seamless installation without the need for a ball valve.
Begin by creating a 50mm diameter hole in the pipeline. Prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening for secure mounting.
In scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow is unacceptable, it's essential to integrate a ball valve. This necessitates the selection of an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter equipped with a ball valve structure.
Again, a 50mm diameter hole should be made in the pipeline, followed by preparations to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline for proper integration.

To ensure optimal performance, maintain straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter, specifically 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This configuration guarantees accurate measurements.

The electromagnetic flowmeter operates independently of the flow characteristics, ensuring reliable readings.
If turbulence and vortices are present in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (e.g., near elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream), they will not interfere with the measurement accuracy.

However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can affect both the stability and accuracy of readings.
To counteract this, consider implementing the following measures to stabilize the flow distribution:

  1. Increase the length of the straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream.
  2. Utilize a flow stabilizer.
  3. Reduce the cross-sectional area at the measurement point.
  1. Environmental Requirements for Installation
    1. Avoid installing the flowmeter in areas with significant temperature fluctuations or high-temperature radiation. If unavoidable, ensure proper insulation and ventilation measures are in place.
    2. While indoor installation is preferred, if the flowmeter must be installed outdoors, protect it from rain, flooding, and direct sunlight by implementing moisture-proof and sun-proof measures.
    3. Avoid environments with corrosive gases. If installation in such areas is necessary, ensure adequate ventilation is provided.
    4. Ensure ample space around the flowmeter to facilitate installation, maintenance, and upkeep.
    5. The installation site should avoid sources of magnetic fields and strong vibrations. If significant pipeline vibration is present, stabilize the pipeline with supports on both sides of the flowmeter.

1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter

2.1. Straight Pipe Section Requirements To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, adhere to specific lengths for straight pipe sections both upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. Ignoring these requirements can compromise measurement accuracy. Installing a straightener is advisable, and avoid placing the flowmeter close to control valves or partially open valves.

2.2. Process Pipe Requirements The flowmeter has stringent requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point. Failure to adhere to these can impair measurement accuracy. a. Ensure that the inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes matches the sensor's diameter: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (with DN being the sensor's inner diameter, and D being the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.

2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance of your flowmeter, the installation of a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This becomes crucial for systems dealing with heavily contaminated fluids or scenarios requiring flowmeter cleaning without interrupting fluid flow. a. Facilitates easy maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows cleaning of the flowmeter without halting fluid movement.

3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters

3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections To maximize the flowmeter's performance, proper straight pipe sections are vital. Inlet sections should be ≥ 10×DN, while outlet sections should be ≥ 5×DN.

3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points For optimal instrument performance and enhanced measurement accuracy, the sensor must be well-grounded to avoid external parasitic potentials. Ensure a grounding resistance of less than 10. (No additional grounding device needed if the metal pipeline is already well-grounded.)

3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Refer to the accompanying diagram for precise installation positioning.
